(post with permission)

When I spoke to Nickee, she  told me one of the things is likes best about her photoLIFE V3 was that there was actually very little post processing needed often and there was very little done to this winning photo. She also shared with me that all proceeds of her contest winning were donated to her RFL Team and that is what she intended to do with with and winning for the rest of this RFL year.

You can view all the winning photos here .

We use the photoLife 3.0 Studio simply because there is no other that compares to its features on the market today.  Couple that with the best in support, the PL 3.0 is a must have for any professional photographer in SL.

Boys Will be Boys?

I spent the day at the beach recently with 7 beautiful women and two handsome men. While this sounds like the set up for a kinky spring break or a “Dear Penthouse” story…it isn’t. Sorry to disappoint. It was really just a photo shoot for a new up and coming art photography studio that I do some work for now and then.

Several of the models were new to being in photo shoots and this was to be a learning experience but the ladies took to it quickly and with much grace. The men however…..well…..they were ….ehh… not so graceful?

It started with the first pose, a huge group shot with everyone in it,all packed in nice and close. We had a line of pose balls to get on and ever single one of the pose balls was called “Hers”. Now admittedly some of the poses were pretty girly, but others were not and after trying a couple different balls I had one that worked for me. Meanwhile my fellow men were having some serious set backs with this situation.

“I can’t pose on a girl’s ball” stated one.

“I am not posing next to another guy, I am not gay” griped another.

“This makes me look gay.” complained the first having apparently risked his manhood by trying a girls ball.

After a few minutes of this, i gave my pose to the one that was sure he looked gay so he would hopefully settle, shut up and let us get  the photo started. As soon as I took the pose he had left he hollered, “Ha! Now you look gay!” Maybe it was his way of saying thanks? “Well I am gay so that is fine by me” I quipped thus earning several charming giggles from the girls and at least a few minutes of shocked homophobic silence from the men. At last a break for the poor photographer to work in. It was too good to last.

“EWwwww Candi just farted on my leg!” says the dark haired hunk who I had swapped poses with. Everyone laughed and LOLed and he took that as approval to continue. He told us how it smelled. He told us how it felt. He told us he can tell when a girl is pregnant by how her farts smell….and so on….and so on….and so on. Now gentlemen, let me tell you something about fart humor in mixed company over the age of thirteen. One, just one _well timed_ fart joke can be very funny, a second one can be a little amusing … sometimes. Get onto three and four fart jokes and people start to wonder just what is wrong with you. More then that most people are just wishing someone somewhere would slap a muzzle on you. Another thing to note, discussing the tone, fragrence and quality of a woman’s passing of gas, be it real or imagined… is not likely to win the heart of the fair lady.

Now I am not a lady but I do know the sort of things I find charming when said by a man and I suspect that none of these other amusing comments I heard during the shoot was going to win female hearts either. Smooth lines like…..

“Man you got a nice ass!”

“Hey…lets do this shot with all the girls naked”

“That suit would look better topless.’

Thru all of this, every girl in the group was pleasant, professional and polite even to the men when they were at their silliest and it really was a fun afternoon in front of the cameras. In the spirit of this post and because I am a guy too after all.. I have to show you one photo from the shoot.  Notice where the hand of the girl beside me is?  Maybe it was a “Dear Penthouse” worthy day after all.

By Alexander Fine Jewelry Photo Contest!

Posted in Opium Insight - Contests, Opium Insight - New Releases with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 12, 2009 by Alianna Logan

Alexandar Vargas is always up to something. Busy, talented, involved jeweler that he is. And now he’s sponsoring a fun photo contest and I want to share the details with you.

All A Woman Needs Are Her Jewels Photo Contest

Starts: May 15th, 2009

Ends: June 15th, 2009

Results: June 20th, 2009

1st Prize: 10,000L Gift Certificate

2nd Prize: 5,000L Gift Certificate

How to Enter:

  • Make a photo inspired by one of the jewelry sets in the By Alexander Fine Jewelry Main Store. (You don’t have to actually wear the jewelry.)
  • Submit it to the By Alexander Fine Jewelry group on Flickr
  • Use of Photoshop is allowed
  • You can submit up to two pictures
  • Title of the photo: “By Alexander Photo Contest, Jewelry Set Name, Your Name”

While we’re talking about it, why don’t I show you some of his recent releases. Perhaps one of these will inspire you to create a photo worthy of winning 10,000L in precious jewels! This first set that I’m wearing is called Black Tear and I just love it. The necklace has a decorative chain of swirling platinum silver and diamonds down to an elegant, egg-shaped black and silver pendant that sits well above the cleavage perfect for dresses that don’t have an overly deep cut.

In the above, I’m wearing the fabulous new Uma skin from Rockberry and Bishwear hair.  This next set of new jewels by Alexander are called Cat’s Meow.  He’s created a small cat with such amazing detail, even has whiskers.  I find this set absolutely adorable even though I’m a dog lover.  Sprinkled across the gold-based jewelry are beautiful blue butteflies that appear to be flying this way and that.

Above I’m wearing a skin from a store called Your Skin because it has a hair base.   The new release hair from Laqroki must be worn with a base that has hair.  It’s very nice, very realistic-looking hair.

Butterflies and kitties on my neck, ears, wrist and finger….I love it!

Alex entered the recent Fashion Designers Challenge and took up the task of creating vintage pearls.  I personally wouldn’t have a clue how to pull off such a feat, but he’s done it beautifully as you can see below in this set called Vintage Pearls.  The earrings are absolutely stunning in their intricacy.  Lovely diamond-studded bows encasing nice-sized single vintage pearls.  The choker is classicly appealing with an interesting diamond cluster added to the side of the neck.  There’s beautiful bracelet and a gorgeous ring that you’ll want to go to the store and see because I’ve not included a picture of it here.  *smiles*

Here’s an SLURL to By Alexander Fine Jewelry on Opium and one to the main store on Welsh Bay.  Happy shopping and contest participation!  :)
