Turn Heads wearing Sascha’s Designs

Sometimes when I create a look it’s because it inspires me from something in RL.  When Anatascia asked if I would write a styleblog about Sascha Design’s Red Widow Mini dress, well the look started to develop into a tribute to a favorite Model.  See, I’m a Philly girl and 30 years ago a local Philly girl took the modeling world by storm becoming one of the fashion industry’s top models.  Gia Carangi, who would have been 50 last January, didn’t fit your typical model of the late 70s/early 80s.  She was actually considered ‘short’ by modeling industry standard being only 5’7″.  She had a very ‘ethnic’ look that deviated from all the blonde hair/blue eye models.  And she had lusty curves to her shape.  She ruled the industry for 2-3 years until her excessive lifestyle habits took their toll on her.
Despite her sad ending, I’ve always been a big fan of Gia because she was a Philly girl like me.  And wearing this beautiful party dress from Sascha Design’s reminded me of the glam fashions of that era which have come back in style in the past years.  Designer Sascha Frangilli created a fun party dress that is both stylish and daring.  The little red dress has always symbolized an independent woman and I like that this is a rich dark shade of red that makes it much more elegant than brighter shades might look.  This strapless dress is well-appointed around the daring neckline with a goldtone & black embellishments which highlight both the dress and the wearer.  That same trim is also found at the small of the back for a beautiful finishing touch.
My tribute to Gia started when I selected a skin I discovered at a recent skin fair.  The skin design is from Alite and I loved the rich yet minimal makeup that sets off the eyes and makes the lips look stunning.  Adding Mirone’s latest hairstyle Miaa (named after current Miss Virtual World Miaa Rebane) finished the look that I wanted.  I added N-Core Infinity XtremeHeels in black, I love how I can customize the shoes so the embellisments match the dress.  When my friend Sabine Blackburn saw the outfit she knew the perfect jewelry to finish the look – Alienbear Design’s Feng Huang Gold Necklace & Earrings.  As always, Sabine was absolutely perfect.
An outfit like this will surely have the heads turning for the girl who always loves to have fun and dance the night  away.
And Happy Belated Birthday Gia – you revolutionized the modeling world and left us too soon in life!

Spotlight on SL Top Designers – House of Rfyre

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , , , , on February 7, 2010 by Herradura Baar
The Goth World has been with us for centuries but exploded into a culture when the likes of Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and others created their genre of the Supernatural living amongst a victorian era.  These writings have evolved thru the ages with modern day adaptations of this lifestyle done by authors such as Anne Rice, Stephenie Meyer and Charlaine Harris.  Throughout the decades, a lifestyle of Victorian fashion intertwined with these creatures have made Second Life a prime source for the Goth World.
And what better way to immerse yourself into this Second Life world by first shopping at House of Rfyre, home of Goth Couture fashions.  Designer Raven Pennyfeather is a champion of creating very detailed and high end fashion that not only will blend in well with Second Life’s Goth Community but be fashion forward at any SL event.  Today I had the opportunity to style Rfyre’s Fury Womens Noir – a beautiful slimming black dress suit of Satin, Lace & Feathers.
This outfit starts wth a black brocade jacket that is trimmed in lace and is finished with a tulle neckline and satin trim cuffs.  The skirt is a beautiful black satin slim skirt that is pleated at the bottom.  Finishing this outfit is a wide black patent belt that combines the jacket & skirt perfectly.  Include with this outfit is a black pillbox hat topped with feathers & a veil along with textured stockings.  What I love about this outfit is it is beautiful detailed but versatile too.
Styling it was a real joy and I wanted to create something that matched the victorian feel of the outfit.  With a well designed outfit like Women Fury Noir there is only one pair of shoes I felt defined the outfit best – a pair of Bax Ankle Boots in Black Suede.  I love how you can customize these boots to fit your outfit and mine were finished with a black lace top to the boot.  I wanted to create the image of a young widow during victorian times so I opted to use a makeup finish that was not overly done and I loved Aimesi’s Sonja in Cashmere Face1 – well detailed and haunting look.  I finished that with Exile’s Love Song2 in Ash.  Finally, a simple but elegant necklace from Vassnia – the Gothika Black Cross Necklace.
This is not an outfit just for fans of Goth but anyone who loves high fashion!

Perfect Gown for Grammys Night from Ora Trei Designs

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , , , , , , , on February 1, 2010 by Herradura Baar

Hello everyone!  Just finished watching the Grammy’s and it reminded me of a lovely gown in my inventory share with all of you.  This is Melody and it’s a wonderful creation from designer Potnia Theas of Ora Trei Designs.

I love gowns.  I love dressing up in a gorgeous creation, dripping jewels all over my arms, my neck and my ears and slipping my feet into beautiful shoes.  Oh the joys of twirling twirling as the layers of tulle, silk and lace spin around me…..

And then I put the gown away, for as gorgeous as those gowns are and as much as I love them, I just wish I had more reason to wear them every day.

But then I had a chance to try on a beautiful gown from Ora Trei – Melody.  What a beautiful gown!  This starts with a black silk short sleeve shirt cut just right (perfect to show off a beautiful necklace!) and finished in the back with black netting and a beautiful red satin ribbons.  The Melody gown gets its name from the gorgeously detailed black silk skirt that has sheer panels of musical notes in White & Red layered overtop.  This is a stunning gown is perfect for a night of dancing under the stars listening to crooners like Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin singing romantic songs.  To finish the look is a red chain belt with rubies that circle the waist along with matching shoe; both included with the outfit.  To complete my look, I wanted to create a soft romantic style and started with makeup from Tuli – Hope skin in Gala Make-up (Sunkissed).  The bright red lips matched well with the red trim of the dress.  I thought instead of an updo I’d to a soft lose ponytail style hairdo and Analog Dog’s Ash in Café was a perfect, soft romantic look – loose ringlets of hair gently pulled back that surround the face gracefully and finish in a long ponytail.  And those jewels dripping from my neck & ears –  the Anastasia set from Virtual Impressions – in black & ruby setting.

And I just love this gown but wait a minute; I don’t have to store this gown in the back of my closet waiting for that special moment to dress up.  Ms Theas understands how gowns are special occasions and created a second great look included with Melody.  By swapping the gown for a pair of slacks included with the outfit – I can turn a soft romantic gown into a hip outfit ready for a night of clubbing at the top SL hotspots.  To create this second look, I used Boon’s YKZ851 in blonde (gals, if you want that hairstyle go looking in the Men’s department!) and added rocker chic Hallo-Skulls, Neverafter Nights by JCNY and Stiletto Moody Glam Bootie in Badseed.   And for my makeup I used the same Tuli Hope line but this time in Vivid makeup!

I love when designers create several looks with one outfit – it shows versatility and assures that this is an outfit I’ll find reason to use for almost any occasion.  Potnia Theas scored another winner with Ora Trei Design’s Melody, available in either White Trim or Amber.

Bliss Couture – Sassy look with knits!

Posted in Reviews with tags , , , , , , , , on January 29, 2010 by Herradura Baar

When I was just a little girl, my grandmother taught me how to knit.   It was fun to do but I never really got more creative than a few dozen scarves I ended up giving everyone for Xmas that year.  But knits have always been fashionably forward and Amutey DeCuir, designer and CEO of Bliss Couture, has created the kind of outfits that would inspire me to knit again!  The outfit is *Bliss Couture* Mara Sexy Knit Dress and just my luck I got to create a fabulous look in one of my favorite colors – Olive.  But Ms. DeCuir knitted this wonderful outfit in shades of Black, Red, Brown, Teal and Purple too.

When I first tried on this outfit, two words came to mine:  Sexy & Sassy!  This outfit comes with a sweater, skirt and matching thigh-high stockings.  The sweater starts with an oversized turtleneck and long sleeves but stops just right there to show a glimpse of what is underneath to make this top both sexy and daring.  The skirt is a new trend I’ve been seeing in SL – the bubble skirt.  This fun rounded skirt is short enough to show off the legs and with the low waist-line it really showcases your fab stomach!  This is an outfit I would have fun wearing while shopping with my friends or hitting the clubs – it’s for the gal know what she wants and goes for it!

This outfit can be worn with just about any type of boot or pump in either dark greens or browns.  Since I was going for that fun look with my style, I decided to go with sneakers instead – and used my PornStar Xtra Hi-Tops MultiColor by Urban Bomb Unit.  Ok, don’t let ‘Pornstar’ scare you off!  If anything these are the most versatile pair of sneakers that have oodles of color choices that you can mix & match with these Converse Chuck style sneakers.  BTW, those sneakers are unisex – guys can fit them to their feet too!  To keep with this fun sassy look I went with the really short hairstyle of Who Knew from Exile and matched it with the perfect skin for redheads – April 04 Fair from Laqroki.

Pick your favorite color or buy the fatpack, you cannot go wrong with Bliss Couture’s Mara Sexy Knit Dress.  This is an outfit you’ll find yourself wanting to use again and again, I know it’ll be in my favorite outfits folder!
